Stanley Cup Finals Game 5
Pittsburgh Penguins at Detroit Red Wings (Series tied 2-2)
Saturday, 8:05 pm Eastern – NBC
SBG Global Opening Line: Red Wings - 155 , Total 5.5 Over - 120
In less than six minutes the entire outlook of the Stanley Cup Finals changed in Game 4. The Detroit Red Wings went from having a one goal lead and looking for a 3-1 lead in the series to trailing by two goals and having the series tied 2-2. Game 5 is Saturday night in Detroit and can be seen on NBC television.
SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking Red Wings at Home.
This series may have turned around because of Detroit’s inability to score on the power play. The Wings had back-to-back power plays in the second period when they were leading 2-1 but instead of adding to their lead, they gave up a shorthanded goal to Pittsburgh’s Jordan Staal which turned the game and perhaps the series around. "They were coming after us and we didn't really get the puck out or didn't hang on to the puck and show some poise. That shorthanded goal gave them a lot of momentum and energy and we didn't really respond to that," Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom said, "After that second goal, we didn't respond well and the game got away from us for a few minutes." Detroit’s defense collapsed after that as Sidney Crosby and Tyler Kennedy scored off Detroit’s turnovers and the game was over.
Detroit will try and continue the trend of home team success in this series as the scene shifts back to Detroit on Saturday. The Red Wings are also hoping that All-Star winger Pavel Datsyuk is able to return after missing the last seven games. "We're hoping to have him back in the next game," Lidstrom said, "We didn't know if he was going to show up (for Game 4), but if he comes back for the next one, he just adds that extra dimension to our team. He works really hard defensively and is just tough to play against."
