MLB Betting Preview
Philadelphia Phillies at New York Yankees
Saturday, 4:10 pm Eastern – Fox

An intriguing Interleague matchup takes place on Saturday afternoon in New York as the Yankees host the Philadelphia Phillies. The pitching matchup on Saturday has J.A. Happ going for the Phillies while the Yankees counter with Andy Pettitte.

Check out the current line for this game at SBG Global.

Happ is 2-0 on the season with a 2.49 ERA while Pettitte is 4-1 with a 4.18 ERA. This is Happ’s first start of the season as he replaces Chan Ho Park in the Phillies rotation.

Pettite has picked up four wins this season and usually keeps the Yankees in the game. He gave up four runs in his last outing against the Twins but picked up the victory.

The Yankees have been a very successful team in Interleague play going 123-87 before Friday’s game. The Phillies have not had as much success going 90-109. Last year the Phillies were just 4-11 in Interleague play. The Yankees were 10-8 against the Phillies all-time before the series began on Friday, not including the 1950 World Series. Philadelphia has not played in New York since 2000. "Going to New York is always something special," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "The old Yankee Stadium definitely had a real feel to it. I'm sure this one will have a good feel. They're hitting a lot of home runs there. Hopefully we can tee off on some."

Cole Hamels will be the starter on Sunday and he would have preferred to pitch in the old Yankee Stadium. "It will be nice to see the nice, new stadium," said Hamels, "Kind of see what they have. But I wish I would have been able to pitch in the old Yankee Stadium."

Here are the MLB Betting stats for Saturday’s game. The Phillies are 6-1 in their last 7 road games vs. a left-handed starter. The Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 Interleague games. The Phillies are 23-9 in their last 32 road games.

The Yankees are 54-20 in their last 74 interleague home games. The Yankees are 7-2 in Pettitte’s last 9 starts.

The Over is 4-1 in the Phillies last 5 games vs. a left-handed starter. The Under is 11-4-2 in the Yankees last 17 home games vs. a left-handed starter. The Over is 5-2-1 in Pettitte’s last 8 home starts.
