MLS Betting Preview - Chicago vs. Chivas USA

MLS Soccer Preview
Chicago (4-0-6) at Chivas USA (7-1-3)
Thursday, 10:30 pm Eastern – ESPN 2

A premier matchup is on tap for Thursday night in Los Angeles as the two conference leaders do battle in a prime time game on ESPN 2. The Fire are the last remaining unbeaten team in the Soccer Betting MLS while Chivas has just one loss on the season. The game will match Chicago’s league leading offense against Chivas’ league leading defense.

Chivas is a -220 favorite with a total of 2.5 at SBG Global.

Chivas leads the Western Conference with 24 points in 11 matches. They are eight points clear of second place Seattle. Chivas has played two consecutive draws after winning three straight matches.

The matchup on Thursday should be a good draw since there are a number of Mexican players on both teams. "It's an enticing game.” Chivas’ Eduardo Lillingston said, “These are two of the best teams in the league, each with some big-name players. [It's] going to be a great match."

The Fire have 18 points in their 10 matches to lead the Eastern Conference. They are two points ahead of D.C. United and Toronto FC. The Fire are unbeaten in their 10 matches including a 1-0 win at New York last Sunday.
"I'm excited we got three points on the road. Our guys got a goal and it was nice we could win a 1-0 game.” Coach Denis Hamlett said, “We had some big saves by our goalkeeper. All throughout the back group all the way up to the front guys, they did the extra stuff to make sure we got out of here with the three points.” Goaltender Jon Busch made a season-high 10 saves in the victory. "It's my time to step up. Each week, someone has to step up and today, I guess it was my day. My job is to make saves and catch crosses and I did my job. I don't think it was spectacular, it's my job. That's what I get paid to do, so I did it," Busch said.

The Fire are two games away from the Soccer Betting Galaxy’s record of 12 games without a loss to start the season set in 1996. "We don't talk about being undefeated," said Hamlett. "We just talk about just going out and doing things and improving from our last game to become better."

Chicago and Chivas have met eight times in history with Chivas getting four wins while Chicago has three. They have played to one draw. At Chivas, it is Chivas going 2-1-1 in the four meetings. Last year the teams split their two meetings, with each team winning on the road. Four of the last seven matches between the two teams have ended in 1-0 scores.
